A new game for you tonight! I’m going to give you a car and a few key criteria then you are going to give me ONE option that comes the closest. Let’s kick things off with a manual equipped E90 M3. Tell me Oppo, what else can I get?!
Meet as many of the following key points as possible:
V8.
RWD.
Sedan.
Manual Transmission.
3,600 to 3,900 pounds.
0-60 mph around 4.7 seconds.
A small sedan with a V8 and manual! Those four traits are never seen together so is there such a thing as an E90 M3 alternative?!

Curb weight of 3930 lbs, so you should give it a pass.

BMW E60 550i? Rated at 362 horsepower but is more like 5.2 second to 60. Also might be on the upper end of the weight range but a great handling sedan for its size.
Short of the V8 and sprint to 60- the G35/7 Sedan.

Chevy SS (Pontiac GXP or whatever as well) or last gen CTS-V are the closest. Not quite luxury cars though like the E90 and a little bigger though the Caddy isn’t too bad.
The Dodge Charger also has a V8, stick, and rwd but I’ve never driven one and I’m sure it’s nothing like an M3.
If you’re willing to try AWD, the Audi S4/RS4 had a V8 for a while.
If you can live with a coupe then you could get a recent Mustang or Camaro. You’d probably want to throw some coilivers and some square stance wheels to make it handle more like a European car though though.
There isn’t really a direct, manual transmission competitor with the E90 M3 though.

No alternatives because E90 M3 is peak V8, manual, RWD sedan.

We’ve had this discussion already. There is no replacement or a lateral step for the E9X series. It just doesn’t exist any more short of going insane and getting a Jaguar or a Porsche (you know which one).
If you can get rid of the Manual, which is painful, I’d look at the Maserati Giblet. It is fast, not badly priced and will look amazing next to the E90.

S4 are a maintenance time bomb, but the problem was properly addressed in the RS4.
